Aerosmith was a popular band in the 1970s. This band set standards of hard rock music to another level. What made this band popular is the way, they were able to pull ballads and rock together. There were so many challenges facing the band in 1980s. Some of the band members were addicted to alcohol and drugs. This made the popularity of the band to decline. Aerosmith was formed when Steven Tyler met Joe Perry when they were working at Sunapee. Then, the group was later joined by Ray Tabano but he did not stay in the band for long he was replaced by Brad Whitford.

This band used to promote their songs in clubs around New York and Massachusetts. In 1972, the band signed a contract with Columbia records. The band launched the album towards the end of 1973 and they went to America to promote the album. Their third album was a breakthrough artistically. When they released their third album in 1975, the popularity of the band had grown. There were so many people who referred the band as punk rockers.

In 1977, members of the band decided to take a break and started to prepare their fifth album. The band released this album towards the end of 1977 and managed to become number eleven in U. S charts. The band also featured in a movie. By 1990, the band popularity had grown and they signed a good deal with Columbia records. Before they started to work with Kevin Shirley, the band worked with different types of songwriters and producers. After a few years the band fired their manager Tim Collins, for misleading the band into addiction of drugs.
